OLNA Prep Reading Workbook (DIGITAL)
Welcome to Your OLNA Reading Preparation Guide!
Dear Student
We know failing NAPLAN or OLNA can feel really discouraging but don’t forget that setbacks are just Stepping Stones to Success! This OLNA Reading Preparation workbook is here to help you turn things around and boost your skills by reading carefully and understanding the intent of the text, which are super important parts of the OLNA Reading section. With 334 questions and 3 Timed Trial Tests, it’s more than just practice; it’s a tool to help you improve at your own pace. The more you work through it, the more confident you’ll feel about tackling any reading challenges. Each page you finish is one step closer to overcoming the tough spots and every bit of progress is a win. Take this chance to grow and show yourself that you can absolutely achieve amazing things!
We wrote an OLNA book because we recognised a gap in the availability of effective, tailored resources for students preparing for the OLNA assessment. Many students, particularly those who may have struggled with standardised tests, found existing resources insufficient in addressing their specific learning needs, or just plain expensive and out of reach. This comprehensive work and study book provides you with targeted practice materials, strategies for improvement and clear guidance to build solid reading skills.
The innovative “I Do, We Do, You Do“ structure is a simple, yet effective teaching model that promotes gradual learning and mastery of skills through scaffolding. Here’s how it works:
-
I Do: In this first phase, we demonstrate the task so you fully understand what is expected in an exemplar answer. We explain each step clearly and thoroughly, showing you, the student, exactly how it’s done.
-
We Do: The next step is a collaborative effort whereby we both work through the task together. We guide the process, but you are actively involved in contributing ideas and trying out the steps. This phase allows for practice with support, helping you to build confidence.
- You Do: In the final stage, you'll work independently, applying what you’ve learned. You can now take full responsibility for completing the task on your own, using the knowledge and skills developed during the first two phases.
